PUBLIC RELATIONS


Planet Diversity owner, Ava Gutierrez, has served as a spokesperson for AT&T and other corporations both in the U.S. and abroad, has organized press conferences including the Eco ’92 White House press conferences, organized in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Eco’ 92. She developed grassroots public relation campaigns for AT&T that were later broadened to include the entire nation.

The “El Servicio en Español” media roll-out, shown on your screen (click to learn more) was initiated in the Imperial and San Diego counties of California. The in-language service being promoted was eventually provided to consumers throughout the U.S. who needed to connect with loved ones in a language other than English. The campaign included mass advertising in the two counties, media relations and marketing.

The other campaign illustrated on the website refers to the re-opening of the Watts Towers, a noted Los Angeles landmark, owned by the State of California and operated by the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department. This campaign was heavily skewed to national media relations as well as a media event that included a concert officiated by community leaders including the Mayor of Los Angeles.

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING


Corporate Development and Fundraising require several skills, and one of the most important is having a vision of where a corporation and a mission can come together for a happy fundraising union. In the case of the California Museum of Science and Industry, as an example, the institution received a minimal annual contribution from the state and needed to raise additional funds from the private sector. Noting that Agriculture is one of the three most primary industries to the California economy and the wine industry is a critical component of that sector, Ms. Gutierrez, while Assistant Director of Public Relations, created a food & wine society for the museum. California Wine Patrons, the

Food and Wine fundraising group, developed a host of wine-related programs such as Evenings with Gourmet Chefs, and an annual wine auction. Through these efforts, California Wine Patrons, supported by the museum’s board, raised a sizeable amount of money to support the museum’s science and arts programs.

CORPORATE/INDUSTRIAL FILMS


Commercial or industrial films have a multitude of uses. They can sell a product, or inform a global company employee about the overarching mission of the firm he works for. Industrial films can be used to educate potential customers about the benefits of working with a specific firm, or can be a humorous and provocative way of attracting a sales audience to your booth at a giant sales show where you are competing with others for sales leads. Ms. Gutierrez, planetdiversity.net owner has developed industrial films for a number of uses, including that of generating interest and sales leads at global trade shows and conventions.

COMMUNITY EVENTS, PARADES AND EXHIBITS


Community events such as fairs, and parades, offer a wonderful opportunity to drive a focused message home to the consumer. Planet Diversity owner, Ava Gutierrez, was Senior Account Executive for the AT&T Hispanic brand during the early 80s when the breakup of the Bell Telephone system required that AT&T begin marketing to Hispanics through a broad range of activities including community events, parades, conferences and trade shows. A marketing campaign was developed to increase traffic to an 800# that allowed the Hispanic consumer to gain information in Spanish. The special number was promoted through many marketing events, and in a period of two years, had achieved great public awareness of the number – without mass advertising – but solely on the strength of the grass roots campaign. This knowledge can help Planet Diversity to help you and your staff tap into the ethnic market in an effective, culturally sensitive manner.

COMMERCIALS


Ms. Gutierrez has been part of experienced advertising teams at Bozell Worldwide and at Bermudez and Associates. These creative teams developed effective mass advertising campaigns for such companies as American Airlines, AT&T, Greyhound BusLines and many others.
